What are chemical peels?
They comprise of a range of different acids to address skin tone, texture, hydration, congestion & pigmentation.
Chemical peels are a quick and simple technique to achieve dramatic results for the face, neck and hands. They can be used as a ‘one off’ to achieve radiance for a special occasion or as a series of treatment to reverse or lessen the effects or pigment and scarring skin conditions.
Conditions it can be used for include:
- Acne
- Acne scarring,
- Pigmentation such as melasma
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Dull, tired looking or sun damaged skin
- Oily or dry skin conditions
- Open porse
- Deeper peels are required for deep wrinkles and skin laxity
A chemical peel simply reacts with the very top layer of the skin causing it to come away, revealing a healthier, smoother and a blemish-free complexion underneath. As the skin heals new cells are made and there is greater collagen production resulting in a brightened, youthful and rejuvenated look.

what is the vi peel?
The Precision Booster contains a higher concentration of the same synergistic blend of ingredients found in the VI Peel®. The Precision Booster is an excellent addition for addressing stubborn hyperpigmentation, including melasma, actinic keratosis and age spots on the face, hands, arms or chest.
do the vi chemical peels hurt?
The VI peel range may sting, a prickle of feeling hot for a brief minute or two but are not described as painful. A cool fan will help to manage any brief discomfort with the sensation passing within minutes.
What can I expect after treatment with the vi peels range?
Immediately after the treatment, you may be pink. Over the next few days, your skin will feel tight and dry; it may darken in patches before peeling, much like a sunburn peel. The peeling usually begins on day 3 or 4 and may last for 3 or 4 days.
Dr Sheila will provide you with a skin care regime and instructions after your treatment.
are there any side effects?
All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with you during your consultation with Dr Sheila and prior to any treatment being agreed.
Side effects include, but are not limited to:
- Redness/Tenderness
- Dryness
- Itching/Peeling
These are expected to be temporary and settle spontaneously, usually within days
How many sessions will I need and how far apart do I need them?
While peels can be applied in isolation, for best results Dr Sheila will recommend a course of treatment after a full consultation. Vi peels require 4-6 weeks in between peels for skin healing. After the course of treatment 1 peel, every 3-4 months is recommended for maintenance.
Is there any downtime?
There is virtually no downtime with the VI Peel, the peeling process lasts approximately 2-3 days (if timed well this can often occur over the weekend) and you will see great results within 1-2 weeks after treatment. You will be able to wear makeup a few hours after having the peel.
