This is a skin rejuvenation treatment and aims to restore skin to a healthier, more radiant appearance.
As we age, it is normal for our skin to appear less hydrated as hyaluronic acid levels diminish. Additionally, environmental or individual lifestyle factors, such as sun exposure or smoking contribute to the ageing process.
Our patients seek skin rejuvenation typically because they want smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin; smooth and firm skin is a sign that the skin is hydrated.
There are different products that Dr Sheila uses for skin hydration therapy, such as RevitaCare, Teosyal Redensity I, Restylane Vital Juvederm HYDRATE, or Skinboosters, which improve elasticity and restore the skins hydro-balance, replenishing your skin and restoring a younger, healthier glow to your appearance. These products all contain hyaluronic acid, which hydrates and plump the skin from deep within.
Chemical peels are also a popular treatment for those seeking younger-looking skin. Peels work by removing the dead skin cells to retexture and refresh the skin. As a result, the skin is rejuvenated and appears more even, brighter and more youthful.
How does mesotherapy work?
Subdermal vitamin injections rejuvenate the cells, making them more active, and thereby stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. You can begin anti-ageing treatments in your mid-twenties to prevent wrinkles from forming. Treatments for the face, neck, arms and hands are recommended several times each year.
How is the mesotherapy treatment carried out?
Mesotherapy treatment consists of performing multiple micro-injections into the area treated to deliver hyaluronic acid and nutrients into the skin.
Is mesotherapy painful?
Mesotherapy is usually not a very painful technique. It greatly depends on how it is injected.
How it is injected depends on the skills of the practitioner and also whether or not he chooses to use a good automatic injection device (mesogun). Dr Sheila will use the Teosyal pen or Restylane Vital Pen delivering each time the same dose into the skin.
A topical anaesthetic can also be applied to the skin prior to treatment to minimize any discomfort.
What are the side effects of mesotherapy?
The great thing about Mesotherapy is that there are very few side effects associated with the treatment & they are all short term.
Besides discomfort – which can be managed, the most common side effect is bruising, itching & soreness. Bruising can also be avoided by using the proper technique of injection. Sometimes there will be some swelling and redness associated with the injections site. These side effects are only temporary and will last a few hours or at the most a few days.
When will I see results?
With the use of the proper technique and products, Dr Sheila expects the following results for each indication:
- For skin glow: immediately after the first session.
- Skin rejuvenation: results appear after 3 to 4 sessions.
- For hair regrowth and strengthening: results appear after 3-4 sessions with optimum results after 6 sessions
How long do results last?
Results can last for years especially when an appropriate maintenance strategy is applied (maintenance sessions are recommended on average every 3-4months).
