Headgears are used in the treatment of adolescents. Headgear is an appliance that can be attached to a neck strap or head cap from one side and to the top back teeth from the other side. It is usually used to move the back teeth backwards to make more space, or to stop them moving forward whilst the front teeth are being straightened. It is used for around 8-14 hours per day according to the orthodontist prescription.
