Get rid of yellow teeth for good
What is Teeth Whitening? | Advantages | How Long will the Treatment Take? | Illegal & Harmful Tooth Whitening | Before & After
More than ever, the request for patients wanting to whiten their teeth is soaring.
In our experience, many patients we meet are unhappy and self-conscious with the appearance of their smile.
Yellow teeth can often be caused by staining from food and drink as well as overall poor oral care and hygiene.
But how does the treatment benefit your oral health and is it even safe?
Teeth whitening is carried out where the teeth are bleached to make them appear a lighter shade.
The treatment will be unable to produce brilliantly white results, however, it can provide noticeable differences to the existing colour of your teeth as it can lighten the colour up to several shades.
As expert cosmetic dentists, and as teeth whitening is a form of dentistry, we would recommend that it is only carried out by a dental professional from a recognised and recommended clinic.
It can sometimes be the case that beauty salons offer this service, however, please note that if there is no dental professional present that this is illegal as it could have negative consequences on your oral health.
It is also the same with DIY home teeth whitening kits that can also carry several risks.
Whiten your teeth with the latest laser whitening treatments from The Perfect Smile Studios.
Teeth can become discoloured due to:
- Diet: Particular foods and drinks in your diet that are high in tannins, such as red wine can be one of the biggest causes of yellow teeth.
- Other secret and common causes that darken the teeth over time include tea, coffee and sodas (caffeinated drinks). This type of discolouration can often be the worst as the substances work their way inside the enamel of the teeth causing long-term staining.
- Age and smoking also contribute to unwhitened teeth.

WHAT IS TEETH WHITENING?
Teeth Whitening is a process that uses a chemical called hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide to brighten and whiten the outer surfaces of your teeth.
There are many systems available to help with this and The Perfect Smile can help advise as to the most suitable for you that is suitable for your oral state.
We carry out various teeth whitening procedures in all our major cosmetic practices, including our two London locations; Marylebone and St John's Wood and our Hertfordshire clinic.
Most effective whitening treatments:
A popular method is Home Whitening.
We construct customised trays, which are filled with the correct types of gels and applied to your teeth for about 30 -45 minutes to produce the final result.
This can take a week or more to achieve lighten the teeth by 5-8 shades.
In order to help you understand the process exactly and make you comfortable with the steps of the treatment, the dentist will carry out the first cycle of the teeth whitening in the surgery.
This ensures appropriate instructions are followed to produce the best results for you.
There are other methods wall chairside systems which can take about 1 hour in the surgery often followed up with a home whitening system.
These include:
Laser Whitening - where we use one of our many lasers to whiten the teeth.
Zoom Whitening - this has been the most talked-about whitening product as featured on the TV program Extreme Makeover.
Enlighten - the modern and effective system which produces fantastic results.
The choice of which method is prescribed for you will be determined on examination, and the most suitable and effective method for your teeth will be recommended.

I’d wanted my teeth done for a while as I was unable to smile properly and it lowered my confidence. Sam and Sophie made me feel so comfortable and reassured. I now feel so much more confidence with the beautiful veneers they gave me. The whole process was quick and easy but at the pace I wanted. Emma and Chelsea were also amazing and so kind while I was going through the process.

I have been impressed by the care and attention given to me from all the staff at the Perfect Smile Studios. I appreciated Gurs Sehmi`s calm manner and how he explained each stage of the treatment. Thank you for my lovely new smile.
