Implant Examination
Treatment Planning for Dental Implants
Dental Implants are a great choice of treatment for restoring gaps left by missing teeth.
Like any treatment solution, it is best if the treatment of choice is the most compatible with the particular situation. For this reason during the Treatment Planning procedure, there are a few considerations to make before a definitive plan of action can be established.
The best way forward to fully understand which Implant system would be the best for you is via our implant examination and consultation.
Treatment Planning Considerations:
- The number of missing teeth. How any case is planned is dependent upon how many teeth need to be replaced and where in the mouth they are situated. This is because we need to plan which teeth and how the implant will support the dentition and anchor the artificial teeth.
- What is the treatment goal aesthetics or function or both? This plays an important role in how we design the treatment plan. If aesthetics is a major requirement then other teeth may be involved in the overall smile design; otherwise, the plan focuses on restoring the functioning of the teeth such has improved chewing ability. Hence, we need to understand whether the Treatment Plan is for the overall mouth or simply to replace the missing teeth.
- The type and systems of dental implant to be used. Since there are now so many different innovations and technical differences between each implant system and brand, it is important that the implantologist explores the best choices that are the most compatible for your unique situation.
- Foundation that forms the bases on which to do implants. Here we will be looking at the quality and quantity of remaining bone tissue. We have to consider if there is enough of the right type of bone available or whether we need to carry out some pre-implant procedures such as Sinus Lifts or Bone Grafting.
- Final Aesthetics of the gums. Here the dentist looks to see what the gum line should look like after treatment and whether any additional treatment is necessary. In some cases, gum grafting procedures can be carried out after the implant treatment in order to re-establish the gingival aesthetics.
- Medical considerations. We need to see if there are any medical contra-indications that prevent this implant procedure. In most instances, the patient should have everything under control with the proper medication and physician care. Their condition should be stable. For this reason, the dental implant procedure does not hinder many from achieving the restorative benefits. In complex cases we do liaise with the specialist consultants so that all precautions are taken.
- Is there any treatment required on the other remaining teeth? Our Treatment Plan will consider any other restorative or dental treatment that you may require. However, your general dental practitioner will be able to carry out this work for you. We work in collaboration with your dentist and specialists. We simply need to understand this treatment in order to be able to position the implants in the correct manner to be compatible with your Restorative Treatment Plan.
- Do we need to create implant-supported crowns, bridges or dentures? What would be the preferential treatment and why? This type of understanding is critical to the overall management. We often liaise with your dentist so that we can work in collaboration and true partnership to achieve your aesthetic and functional goals.
- How we are going to temporarily restore the area whilst the area is healing from the surgery? Whilst we are waiting for osteointegration to occur, we need to plan if aesthetics is a consideration. If it is especially when it involves missing teeth at the front of the mouth then we will probably supply a temporary denture.

This is an important consideration for many patients. Our aim is to provide you with dentistry that is suited to not only your mouth but that which is also affordable for you. We will provide long-lasting dentistry, that is comfortable and also cost-effective.

Your Personalised Plan of action for Dental Implants
Once we have understood the Restorative Treatment Plan from your dentist and have examined your mouth in detail, we will be able to establish a personalized Dental Implant Treatment Plan for you. This will be unique to you as our considerations for your mouth will be factored into it.
It is important for you to be reassured that our choice of implants will only be from recognized reputable manufacturers, that have a proven clinical record of success with their implant systems.
After this, we can discuss the number of appointments you will need and how long the treatment will take for you. We will then be able to schedule your appointment to your convenience.

- We provide 0% finance for up to 24 month term plans. Many patients find our payment plan option very useful.

We can also use sedation techniques that also contribute to no pain or discomfort. More.
Single Dental Implant Timeline
- Step 1: We will start the process with a highly detailed and thorough comprehensive examination and assessment. We will then construct a customised treatment plan and design your implant treatment.
- Step 2: Your new implant(s) will be surgically placed in your mouth.
- Step 3: On this review appointment we will assess your healing and make sure everything is going as planned.
- Step 4: Records and impression will be taken to construct the top part (post and crown) of the implant.
- Step 5: The final part of the implant (post and crown) will be fitted.
- Step 6: This appointment gives you the opportunity to have any further refining cosmetic enhancements or minor adjustments.
Insufficient Bone
- When a tooth is removed from the mouth, the surrounding bone that holds the tooth in place will diminish in height and width and volume. This may have an effect on the immediate and final appearance of the gum tissue in this area and possibly the surrounding teeth as well.
- The larger the width of bone or the height of the bone, the wider and longer implant can be. A wider and longer implant increases implant stability and thus success. We asses the bone height and width by taking digital radiographs or by taking a CT Scan. More.
