How much does a single tooth implant cost?
There are many things we need to consider prior to understanding the work that will be involved in any particular case:
- Type of system and brand chosen for the treatment. Premium brand implants tend to be more at the higher cost end of the spectrum as oppose to many cheaper alternatives.
- Experience of the clinician carrying out the surgery. A person who is more experienced and more qualified to perform these procedures will probably be slightly more expensive than those dentists who do not dedicate their entire practice to implants.
- Additional surgery or dental treatment. In rare cases additional surgical work may be required to form the correct foundation for the tooth implant. This can include periodontal treatments, bone grafting and gum grafting work. Additional foundational work can add to the cost of the implant treatment.
Type of desired end result required for Implants
This depends upon your final aesthetic goals for your treatment.
Are you simply after a functional treatment that allows you to chew and prevents the movement of the neighbouring teeth? Or are you more interested in a precise aesthetic final result?
Cosmetic considerations for single tooth implants
Smile Design Goals
When cosmetics becomes involved, as with teeth at the front of the mouth, we have to carry our a Smile Analysis whereby we take measurements and various diagnostics.
This allows us to specifically design a new smile that suits you, your face and your personality.
Cosmetic requirements: we may need to carry out a bone or gum graft that helps to restore any lost parts of the smile.
This calls for a smoother transition from artificial to real teeth.
If the tooth has been taken out for a long time, there can often be significant discrepancies between the bone levels of where we want the resulting artificial teeth to be and the actual real teeth.
In order to make this transition as unnoticeable as possible, we use the neighbouring teeth as reference points to plan what we need to do to give us the most optimal final result.
Aesthetics of the porcelain work
There is now a whole area of cosmetic dentistry devoted to creating realistic and natural tooth-like porcelain crowns.
These components are the “teeth” that are fitted over the implant.
When restoring a single tooth it is imperative that it suitable matches the neighbouring teeth.
More skilled technicians: create a more realistic and completely unnoticeable porcelain work.
Superior quality materials are also used which can add to the final cost of the implant.

My dental plan included quite intrusive treatment, all of which was carried out with concern for my comfort. Time was taken to insure that I was included in every decision to be made.
Everyone was very friendly and made me feel 'at home'. Thanks to the dentists at this amazing practice!!
