Dentistry is becoming increasingly popular in the western world, as more people realise the benefits of improved oral health and are enjoying greater confidence from aesthetic improvements. See our top tips.

However, treatment can be expensive, therefore it is essential to maintain any work you have done in order to ensure its longevity.

Before and After Veneers by Perfect Smile 2017

Our advice

  1.  Dental veneers are more delicate than you may think. This means that repetitive chewing on hard items such as popcorn or boiled sweets could cause them to break. Find out more.
  2. Dental offices will only re-do the work for free if they consider there has been a mistake at the lab, or if a crown was not fitted correctly. They will not subsidise treatment if a tooth has chipped due to a fault of your own.
  3. Do not use toothpaste containing abrasive ingredients – for example, baking soda. This will remove the shine from your new teeth. Make sure you choose the right toothpaste for you.
  4. Take extra care to protect your teeth from cavities: this means no fizzy or sports drinks, sweets, or drinks that are highly acidic.
  5. Wear a night guard. This is particularly advisable if you know that you grind your teeth at night. Guards are inexpensive, and will protect your teeth from potential breakages during the night.
  6. Maintain a good oral hygiene routine. Just because you have a crown or veneers fitted, doesn’t mean that you can become careless. Tooth decay and gum disease can still occur without regular brushing and flossing.
  7. Never use a mouthwash containing alcohol. These can dry the mouth, restricting your saliva’s ability to keep your mouth free of bacteria. See how mouthwash keeps teeth healthy.
